Ingredients
Method
- Melt butter in a large, deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir together and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Add the tortellini directly to the liquid. Stir gently to ensure all pieces are submerged. Sprinkle in the Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Cook the tortellini according to package directions, typically 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the tortellini is tender, reduce heat to low. Gradually stir in the freshly grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
- Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. If too thick, add additional broth or cream; if too thin, simmer for another minute or two.
- Remove from heat and let rest for 2-3 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan before serving.
Notes
Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for the smoothest sauce. Allow the dish to rest after cooking to thicken the sauce.
