Method
- Warm the milk to approximately 110°F, then sprinkle yeast and 1 tablespoon of sugar over it. Let sit for 5-7 minutes until foamy.
- Add remaining sugar, melted butter, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture and whisk until smooth.
- Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, stirring until the dough pulls away from the bowl and is slightly sticky.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, divide into 16 pieces, and shape each into a ball.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and brush the tops of the rolls with egg wash.
- Bake for 18-22 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
- Brush with melted butter after baking.
Notes
Ensure yeast is fresh for best results. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
