Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the softened butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in the milk and vanilla extract, stirring gently until a soft dough forms.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll them into balls, and coat in powdered sugar.
- Arrange the dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes until set but pale.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Ensure butter is softened but not melted. Measure flour correctly to avoid dry cookies. Use fresh baking powder for best results. Chill dough if too soft. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
